Chan Abraham, Luminus Group Chief Executive, cuts the 7th Anniversary cake with Lynette Gray, Finance Manager, Luminus' newest employee
Luminus Group celebrated seven years of success with a special event to which board members, staff and members of tenant involvement groups were invited.
Over the past seven years Luminus has invested around £50 million in its properties, developed 400 new homes and has greatly increased the number of jobs in the area, including providing an excellent apprenticeship scheme.
Luminus has also introduced different ways of helping and supporting communities, such as its Neighbourhood Wardens, Tenancy Support and Out & About transport schemes. The Group's efforts have been rewarded at both local and national level where it has won numerous awards.
In August 1999, tenants voted overwhelmingly in support of the acquisition of their homes by HHP (Huntingdonshire Housing Partnership, now Luminus Homes and a part of Luminus Group) and, on 20 March 2000, Chan Abraham, as the first Chief Executive, authorised payment of almost £65 million to Huntingdonshire District Council.
Since that time Luminus has introduced additional partners, including the Ferry Project, a Fenland-based charity, focused on helping homeless people, joined Luminus Group and Luminus Suregas, a gas servicing and maintenance company.
Chan Abraham, Luminus Group Chief Executive said,
"The Luminus story is a continuing journey of making people's lives better and creating hope. We are committed to giving the very best service to our customers, to encourage our employees to excel and to sustain hope for all."
