Luminus paints the town burgundy for Sport Relief
The landscape of Huntingdon town centre was awash with the burgundy shirts of Luminus employees as they completed their Sport Relief Mile on Friday 18 March.
At midday, a team of 100 energetic staff members, led by Group Chief Executive, Dr Chan Abraham, began their mile walk from Luminus’ Brook House headquarters. Together, they took a brisk walk along Montagu Road, towards the Market Square. Joining them in the town centre were local dignitaries; Mayor of Huntingdon, Councillor Bill Hensley, Deputy Mayor of Huntingdon, Councillor Daryl Brown, and Chairman of Huntingdonshire District Council, Councillor Peter Bucknell, who helped Luminus raise public awareness about supporting others in our communities and our world.
Luminus’ efforts raised an impressive £140 which will be donated towards Sport Relief, where 50% is used to make a difference right here in the UK, and 50% goes towards transforming lives across the world’s poorest communities.
Dr Chan Abraham said;
“We are delighted to add Sport Relief to the many charitable fundraising events we support during the year. Luminus employees have continued to be generous-hearted. They have quite literally gone the extra mile to support this worthwhile cause, which helps vulnerable people who are living incredibly tough lives both at home in the UK and in the world’s poorest countries.
In 2016, our year of Refining Focus we understand that to achieve our 2020 Vision – to mend broken Britain, and transform our world – we need to work together, and this includes supporting fundraising campaigns like Sport Relief, which also seeks to improve the lives of others all around the world. These are challenging times and I am pleased that we are continuing to make progress along The Road to Renewal.”
