Luminus welcomed 200 local residents, friends and family, employees and civic leaders from across the Cambridgeshire region to its HQ at Brook House, Huntingdon on Tuesday 17 December for A Celebration of Christmas, a festive celebration of the true meaning of Christmas.

Guests enjoyed a vibrant evening of carol singing, poignant readings, mince pies and mulled wine as well as performances from The Luminus Singers and special guests.

Bethany Warton and Emily Abraham performed a unique “Christmas Medley” of popular songs, and Mandy Abraham sang “The Shepherds Pipe Carol” giving everyone opportunity to think about the events of the first Christmas night.

Luminus Group Chief Executive, Dr Chan Abraham completed the picture by talking about “Parallel Universes: Which is yours?” In his inspirational talk, Dr Abraham talked about how we can gain more (or less) from the Christmas story depending on how we choose to view it.

The feelings of guests as they left in high spirits were summed up by one who said,

“Thank You Luminus for kicking off my Christmas! I so enjoyed the inspirational Christmas concert and the community carol singing.  I wish it could be Christmas every day!”

Although the event was free to attend, guests voluntarily donated nearly £200 for the charity, Crisis, which helps homeless people at Christmas.

Dr Abraham said,

“Our Celebration of Christmas continues to be a great opportunity for people to come together in our community and make the most of Britain’s unique heritage at this special time of the year.  With 2013 being our “Year of Regenerating and Refreshing Perspectives”, it’s been good to remember how much we have to rejoice in and be thankful for. The Luminus family were really pleased to welcome so many people to Brook House to share this joy and we look forward to embodying the Christmas message of care and concern as we serve our communities in 2014, which is themed as “A Year of Reinforcing Priorities & Goals.”
